CROWN LODGE No 7840 - A SHORT HISTORY The Crown Lodge first opened it's doors on 28th November 1946 at the Crown Hotel in Llay. The Lodge then met on a Friday evening. In 1970 the Lodge moved to it's present home of the Miners Institute at Llay. This was after it had applied to move some years earlier but had been turned down by Provincial Grand Lodge on the advice of the Grand Secretary. It has now settled into it's home and now meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month.

THE WHITEGATES LODGE No 10424 - A SHORT HISTORY The Whitegates Lodge is named after the Historic Gates of Leeswood which it is said never opened because of non-payment to their manufacturer. The Lodge was opened on 2nd September 1986 at the Lion Inn Leeswood which was the original home of the Black Diamond Lodge. This was the first lodge to be opened under the control of the Wrexham & District Province. The Lodge has now had to amalgamate with the Crown Lodge and now meets at the Miners Institute Llay.

AMALGAMATION

The Crown and Whitegates Lodge have now had their amalgamation approved by Grand Lodge with the Lodge Name now being the Crown Whitegates Lodge No 7840.

1st MEETING OF CROWN WHITEGATES LODGE 4th JANUARY 2010.

The 1st meeting of the new amalgamated Crown and Whitegates Lodges took place on 4th January 2010 at the Miner's Institute Llay. Brothers from Corwen Berwyn Lodge and Brothers from the Oswestry Province came along to provide their support. On this special evening a new Brother was initiated by the Provincial Grand Primo 2010 of the Wrexham & District Province Bro Robert Bowler KOM, and a very good ceremony was carried out. The meeting was an enjoyable evening for all and we wish the new Lodge a long and happy future.

On 15th November 2010, at the Miners Welfare Institute Llay, the Crown Whitegates Lodge Initiated their newest Brother. Mr Paul Crewe was initiated into the Order by the Worthy Primo Bro Granville Venables ROH. The Provincial Grand Primo 2010, Bro Robert Bowler KOM along with Brothers of the Berwyn Lodge supported Bro Granville and the new Inititiate on the evening. A very big welcome to Bro Paul and hope we shall see you around the Province fairly soon.
